Uriah joins the Spokane Jr. Chiefs as an assistant coach to Nick Redding. Uriah grew up playing Tier 1 youth hockey in Southern California for the California Wave and played junior hockey in a variety of leagues including the KIJHL for the Spokane Braves, BCHL for the Trail Smoke Eaters, and WHL for the Kamloops Blazers. After juniors, Uriah played at Eastern Washington University in the BCIHL while pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, graduating with honors, before attending Physical Therapy school at Touro University Nevada in Henderson, Nevada, and will graduate in June with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Uriah is excited to begin his coaching career alongside his long-time friend Nick and give back to the hockey community that he has become so immersed in.
Monica Elvin will be entering her first season as the goaltending coach for the 14U Tier 1 team. She played Division 1 hockey at Brown University where she was an Academic All-Ivy League team member each year, earning her degree in Sociology. In her senior year at Brown, she was nominated as the Female Winter Athlete of the Year and named team MVP. She was also selected as a second-team All-Ivy League as a goaltender. Monica has worked with various levels of goaltenders in youth and junior hockey, most recently serving on Nick Redding’s staff as the goaltender’s coach for the Creston Valley Thunder Cats. Monica brings a wealth of knowledge to SAYHA and is looking forward to the opportunity to be working in the youth hockey ranks again.
