Get ready, hockey families! SAYHA is offering an exciting opportunity for our 8U and 10U/12U players. This season, focus on power skating, shooting, and skill development with our 8U Academy & 10U/12U Skills. But act fast, sessions start September 9th and spaces are limited! Our 8U Academy and 10U/12U Skills Coaching Staff includes the following:

Brody Aufderheide (8U Academy Lead Coach)

Brody brings a wealth of experience and passion to the role of Assistant Hockey Director and our Director of Goaltending Development at Spokane Youth Hockey. With a strong background in player development, Brody will focus on additional fundamental skills development for our 8U Academy that will lay the foundation for our young athletes’ future success. With a commitment to fostering growth and development, Brody is excited to help each young player reach their full potential, ensuring they have the skills and confidence needed to succeed in hockey and beyond.

Jason Greenwell (10U/12U Skills Lead Coach)

Jason, a seasoned coach with multiple seasons under his belt, is joining our 10U/12U Skills staff as our lead coach for this program. Currently serving as our 10U Silver Head Coach, Assistant Coach for the Spokane Braves and General Manager for Eagles Ice Arena, his extensive experience promises significant growth and development for our 10U/12U players.

Stephanie Smith-Velez (8U Academy & 10U/12U Skills Power Skating Coach)

Stephanie’s primary focus for both our 8U Academy and 10U/12U Skills members will be on developing players’ edge quality, extension, and stride. Great skaters emerge from a deep understanding of basic skills, which is why these Academy sessions will not only serve to enhance performance but also to educate and challenge players to grasp the importance of the why and how behind each skill. From this foundation, Stephanie will then teach our Academy members power, footwork, and other skills that will support each player’s growth and development.
