Welcome Nick Redding, SAYHA 14U Tier I Coach

Spokane Youth Hockey is pleased to announce that we have hired Nick Redding as Head Coach of our 14U Tier I team.

Over 30 coaches from across the US, Canada, and abroad applied for this position, with SAYHA interviewing 6 highly-skilled coaches. We are proud to build the foundation of a superior Tier I program in Eastern Washington with Coach Redding.

“Nicks’s coaching résumé is top-end and adds true value to our association. What excites me the most is the type of person Nick is and the character and devotion he will display around our Jr. Chiefs every day,” said SAYHA Hockey Director, Dustin Donaghy.

Nick brings years of experience as a head coach, general manager, and hockey operations coordinator for clubs across the region, most recently serving as the Head Coach/General Manager of the Creston Valley Thunder Cats Junior Hockey Club of the KIJHL, and previously working as Hockey Operations Coordinator for the Seattle Thunderbirds and as General Manager/Assistant Coach of the Spokane Braves. In addition to his strong coaching and player development background, Coach Redding holds a Master’s degree in Sport and Athletic Administration from Gonzaga University and a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management and Minor in Business Administration from Eastern Washington University.

A Spokane native and former SAYHA player, Nick understands SAYHA’s culture of excellence and is committed to building a team culture and atmosphere driven by development, commitment, and enjoying the game, creating a team that helps players reach their potential and advance their hockey careers. With a strong background in player development, Coach Redding has worked with players that advanced to many different levels of hockey, including Major Junior, Junior A, Junior B, NCAA, and ACHA.

“I am beyond honored and excited to be named head coach of the SAYHA Tier I team. Being able to work with the association I grew up playing in is something I have always wanted to do and am looking forward to,” said Redding. “I would like to thank the SAYHA Board of Directors and hiring committee for entrusting me with this opportunity.”
