Vice President - Hockey Operations

Bio

Michael has worked in the industrial engineering and construction space for nearly 20 years including 15 years in the project management discipline, operations, and organizational leadership. He is currently the Manager of Project Management for Avista Energy Resources primarily focused on capital projects at power generating facilities. He has extensive experience in construction project management, environmental compliance and permitting, safety, operations, change management and building teams. He started his college career at Nichols College before transferring and received his undergraduate degree in Construction Management from Eastern Washington University and later an MBA from Whitworth University. He currently holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Construction Manager (CCM). Michael formerly served as board chair for the Spokane County Emerging Leaders Society and on the Spokane Oldtimers Hockey Association Board. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at Whitworth University in the School of Business.

Michael played junior hockey across the country. During his time playing junior and college (Nichols College - NCAA Div. III, EWU - ACHA) hockey, Michael was an on-ice and off-ice instructor for Rick Heinz Hockey schools and Hockey Ministries International. He is currently serving on the Whitworth MBA Alumni Society, SAYHA Board, and coaching 8U hockey for the Spokane Jr. Chiefs. He has a strong passion for hockey and takes great pride in the training and development of young athletes.

Board Position Description

The Vice President - Hockey Operations will provide oversight and direction for activities and staffing related to the ongoing operations of SAYHA’s programming. Such responsibilities shall include aligning the strategic goals of the Board with the day-to-day operations of the SAYHA Hockey Director.
