Spokane Youth Hockey is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as our Program and Partnerships VISTA this Summer! Individuals interested in working with nonprofit organizations, youth development, and sports organizations are encouraged to apply.

The Up2Us Sports VISTA project builds the capacity of host-site organizations working to end the cycle of poverty through intentional youth sports and education programming. The Up2Us Sports VISTA Summer Associate will be placed at Spokane Youth Hockey to build the capacity of Spokane Youth Hockey to offer additional programming to priority population youth through the development of organizational sponsorships and partnerships, and the support of summer programming and new seasonal program development.

This 9-week summer program offers not only a unique opportunity to be part of a cohort of like-minded service members committed to alleviating poverty and helping create sustainable solutions, but also offers extensive benefits, such as professional development opportunities, networking, and an end-of-service stipend or education award that can be used to pay for schooling or certification programs at any educational institution.

As the Summer VISTA at Spokane Youth Hockey, you will support summer programming activities, develop resources for Summer and Fall programming, identify grant, sponsorship, and partnership opportunities, which will help us create higher quality, more effective programs reaching additional members of our community.

This is a 40-hour-per-week position that will be paid in a stipend for the 9-weeks of $2589.30. At the conclusion of their term of service, the VISTA will also receive their choice of an education award ($1342) or a cash stipend ($311). The start date for the position is June 13, 2022.

Please submit a resume and cover letter for review. In your cover letter, please address your interest in working with Spokane Youth Hockey, any hockey/sports experience you may have (not a deal-breaker!), and why you are interested in applying to the AmeriCorps*VISTA opportunity.

Spokane Youth Hockey will be hiring this position as a full-time year-round VISTA position later this Spring. If you are graduating this Spring, or have recently graduated and are interested in a long-term opportunity with us, please note this in your cover letter.
